How to Apply

Admission Application Processing

We accept and admit qualified applicants for all programs on a ‘first received, first qualified’ basis. This means we begin assessing your application once all the required documentation has been received. This assessment begins in November and continues until a program fills. It is important that you apply online to avoid missing the opportunity to be admitted to your chosen program. We will review your application when it is complete (all required documents are received) and notify you of the results as quickly as possible.

Applying for a Full-time Program

  1. Check your program choices.
  2. Check the program admission requirement to ensure that you are qualified to apply to the program.
  3. Before applying, check for available seats - view Program Openings.
  4. Apply Online – Complete your application and pay your $25 application fee online (credit card required).
  5. Indicate your program and campus choice. You can submit up to 3 choices with one application fee. One program at two different campuses is considered two choices.
  6. Send sealed copies of your official transcripts (high school, college or university), or arrange with your previous school(s) to send the transcript directly to NSCC Admissions.
  7. If you haven’t applied online, include the application fee. This non-refundable fee is required to process your application. There is no application fee for the Adult Learning Program.
  8. If your specific program requires additional documentation, ensure that you send all required components. A description of the stated admission requirements is available on the program information page.
  9. Submit one application only. If you want to make changes to your application (program choices, locations, personal information) contact us at , or by fax at (902) 491-3514. Changes or additions to your application may result in an additional processing fee of $25.
  10. Your application will not be considered until you submit all the documentation required.

Avoiding Delays

To be considered for a seat in a program, we require the following:

  • completed program application (including application fee)
  • all other required documentation (entrance portfolio if applicable)
  • sealed copies of official transcripts (high school, college or university)

Missing or inaccurate information can cause delays. Make sure your application includes the following:

  • Full address, contact number(s), and email address. If you move or change your mailing address or email address, please contact NSCC Admissions immediately with your new contact information. We want to ensure you receive all communications from our office.
  • Our preferred way to communicate with you is via email. Please ensure that the email address you have provided is secure and accessible. If you change your email address, please notify us immediately.
  • Former family names (especially important if different from the name on your transcripts)
  • Program choices and campus locations in order of preference

  2. Confirmation
    • Once accepted, you must confirm your intention to enroll by paying the required non-refundable confirmation fee within the timeframe indicated on your letter of offer.
